Blake’s Hard Cider in Georgia, Gluten Free Alcoholic Beverage

In Georgia, you’re state image is a giant peach, so what better way to celebrate than with a nice serving of hard apple cider?

As Ray Charles would say, “I said Georgia…Georgia…a song of you…comes as sweet and clear…as moonlight through the pines”

And there’s no question that Blake’s Hard Cider comes ‘as sweet and clear’ in your drinking glass as hard cider was designed to be for you to enjoy.

We are nationally known as the gluten-free alcoholic beverage of choice. We wanted to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy our drinks without worrying about negative side-effects that typically comes with drinking gluttonous beverages. We wanted to level the playing field (and lower the calories).

The selections below can be found at your local Kroger’s location or Meijers store for your convenience.

El Chavo

With an ABV of 6.5% and harvested, canned and brewed at Blake’s Cider Farm in Armada, MI, this spicy drink sure does pack quite a punch in 12 ounces.

This is a sweet, heated blend of habanero pepper, mango and our world-renowned famous Blake apples. When it pours there is no head. It’s a translucent, very light, if not bright yellow shade reminiscent of a sun’s rays. Earthy smell to it like that of fresh fermented apples.

Although we have hints of mango, it’s barely noticeable on the nose. The hairs in your nose will stand up as it detects the subtle hints of ‘pepper’ laced within. It’s a hint of something exciting to come.

When you take your first sip you are treated to what is more of a sweeter cider rather than ‘dry’. Nice, sweet apple taste with a touch of mango to give it that nice surprising “Oh, I taste mango!”. If you didn’t know to expect it, you’ll taste it and wonder why there was a hint of tropical fruitiness on the finish. Sweetness is balanced equally with the right amount of heat.

Flannel Mouth

The bottle label states, “In the world of hard ciders, this is the smooth talker. The one who throws out compliments to complete strangers. Crafted from handpicked apples from our own trees, Flannel Mouth has just enough sweet to make the other beers blush.”

Most of our consumers agree with this. It kind of ‘sneaks up behind you’, taps you on the shoulder and says, “Hey. I like you. By the way, love the hair. Who’s your stylist? And what a lovely smile you have”.

It’s inconspicuous, yet genuinely charming in such a way that it warms it’s way into your belly. Once it does, it delivers 6.5% ABV into your system like a shot of adrenaline unlike most hard ciders on the market.

In other words, “It DELIVERS!”

It has a raw, crisp, appley flavor and we’re told taste as if you’re literally biting into an apple (who can tell the difference?). Not to sweet or tart. Full and bold.

We created Flannel Mouth with a variety of late season table and dessert apples. This magical combination gives it the signature taste it’s known for and the reason why it is one of our highest requested offerings to date.

Beard Bender

Naturally gluten-free. Product of Michigan. 6.5% ABV. First pour has a big, fizzy, soda pop head that is light golden in color and slightly cloudy.

On the initial whiff it smells like applesauce. We’re talking ‘the REAL DEAL’ applesauce. The kind granny used to make for you at home from scratch. Medium sweet aroma. Not overbearing.

Semi-dry palate with a hint of apple character and minerality. Nice touch of tannin on the back end. Finishes tannic and bone dry. Like an apple core, fresh picked apple. Gradually there is less apple and more dryness through each stage (nose – strong, palate – medium and finish – light)

If you’re used to sweeter corporate ciders on the market today, this one may take you by surprise, but it’ll be a interesting change of pace to what you may be typically used to. Works best with cuisines that naturally pairs with dry white or pink wines.

If you’ve ever been under Michigan heat, you’d know it’s the polar opposite of Michigan cold. Tough to replicate that experience in a single drink, but we managed to pull it off. Experience WakeFire, a comforting blend of Michigan-grown cherries, orange peel and our famous Blake’s apples.

Naturally gluten-free. Product of Michigan. 6.5% ABV. WakeFire is an interesting mix of cherries, orange peel and Blake’s famous apples.

It leans slightly on the sweeter side compared to our other hard ciders but not ‘too’ sweet. Light carbonation makes it drinkable. One of our newer flavors that has quickly become a cult favorite, offered in bombers and recently made available for purchase in cans. A huge hit. You voted, and it’s here to stay.

We hope you enjoyed this thorough review of our most popular selections we have available in stores in your beautiful state of Kentucky (if only our winters were like your’s – sheesh!)

Everyone gets a kick out of tootin their own horn once in a while, but the true test of a hard ciders validity is not what the producers say (if you’re an artist, it’s hard to judge your own creations. It’s like asking which one of your kids you love most), but what our faithful Blakanites have to say and their personal experience.

Kevin B. from Clinton Township said, “We loved the decor of the cider room. I’m not a fan of most hard cider (Woodchuck, Angry Orchard) as I feel they are too sweet and artificial-tasting. Blake’s cider is different. You can tell its quality from the first sip.

I loved the Catawampus cider and the Frostafarian.

My wife got the sampler and enjoyed her choices as well. The Catawampus was so good that I bought a bottle to bring home.

Also if you like a certain cider make sure you order the souvenir pint glass for $7. You can take the glass home and bring it back for $4 refills!” (courtesy of
